What does it take to be significant?
An article I read on John Maxwell he said, “To be successful is to gain success for yourself, but to be significant is to impact and help those around you”. Jim Rohn stated, “each of us need to realize how important all of us are and all of us need to realize how important each of us are”
There is great satisfaction in life when we live to help make a difference in other lives rather than just live for our self. My life greatly changed when I changed my focus in just trying to win and succeed to trying to live a positive word in ever person I met. I felt happier and more joy in life. I have to say when a few people came back and told me that I made a difference in their life, I felt so happy that I wanted to cry. There was no money in the world that gave me so much satisfaction.
I am honored to be a part of the Florida Community Alliance Organization. I work as a volunteer to mentor and change the lives of the youth in our troubled neighborhoods, in order to help build better men and women in our community. Sometimes our juveniles just need a little guidance.
What is the Florida Community Alliance?
The Florida Community Alliance of Palm Beach Florida Community Alliance (FCA) is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit corporation servicing youth and families residing in Palm Beach and Martin County, Florida since February of 2009. The mission of the Florida Community Alliance is to provide opportunities for positive interaction between youth offenders and law enforcement by utilizing cross-age mentoring and leadership training to encourage citizenship, accountability and respect for family and neighbor.
The Florida Community Alliance mentoring program has helped change the lives of many the troubled youth. This program was started by Minerva King and Sgt. Charles King. They have been a great influence in my life and helped me grow as a person. Together our goal was to reduce frequency of youth incarceration and we have achieved many of those goals.
We have taken many troubled juveniles on trips such as bowling, mini golfing, canoeing, baseball games, and etc.
